In addition to the key factors related to the stability and safety of rubber dams

In addition to the key factors related to the stability and safety of rubber dams, the most suitable filling medium should also be determined through overall consideration from the following aspects. Flood season dam collapse: The premise of rubber dam construction is not to affect the flood discharge of the river section during the flood season. During operation, it is required that the rubber dam must collapse during the flood season. Due to different filling media, the control of dam collapse is also different. Water filled rubber dams usually require the equipment to be a power source, and they usually use forced drainage to collapse the dam in order to better meet the flood discharge requirements. However, inflatable rubber dams rely on the water pressure during flood discharge to remove gas from the dam, and generally do not consider backup power sources. Relatively speaking, the electromechanical equipment equipped with inflatable rubber dams will save investment. Water filled rubber dams generally have large wells and require a certain groundwater level to ensure the normal operation of the rubber dam. The existing water filled rubber dams even use urban tap water for dam filling due to water source issues, resulting in increased operating costs. In contrast, inflatable rubber dams effectively avoid similar problems. It should be noted that inflatable rubber dams have high requirements for airtightness, and some inflatable rubber dams constructed in the early stages have such problems, causing safety hazards. With the development of science and technology, the problem of air tightness in previously inflatable rubber dams has been solved, and different forms of filling media can meet the functional requirements of engineering.
